| | Hope everyone had a grand Turkey Day. The most glorious of all the holidays.
Know what I miss? The old Turkey Day Marathons... where Comedy Central would play MST3K all day interspersed with Turkey Day themed spots by Joel and the crew. As if T-Day wasn t already perfect with all the food and football.
Rest of the weekend was pretty good. Visited the new Target next door. Spent some of my hard earned PS3 money (sweet sweet free money).
Sunday we had some outlaw Paintball fun and then came home to the TiVO d Steelers game. Tell ya what... it was almost refreshing to get legitimately beaten. No snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. No dominating a team for four quarters and losing due to fumbles and special teams... We got an old fashioned beat down. Ravens looked crazy good... much better than the team that has been pulling absurd wins out of their collective asses all season.
There s always next year. Probably sans Cowher.
Anyway. Paintball this Saturday at Foxhole. Who s in??
Also... there was talk a couple posts back of an nerd lunch. Nerd lunch is delicious. Todd, Jamie, erion.. whoever else is within range and ear shot. Wed or Thurs work for a nerd lunch for everybody? Anybody?

| | | Welcome the Lord Humungus to the prestigious BlogFriends roll. Check his site for your daily insight from Bran the Red (and his better half) on Life, Metal, and Leftwing extremism (with none of that namby-pamby nasal whining, violence is bad, tofu is good claptrap you normaly get from liberals that makes you want to punch them right in their stupid tree hugging faces) from a right proper anarcho-socialist nutjob.
And on top of all of that, he s the only person on the planet who can make my head feel small. It s a virtual planetoid!!

And speaking of hard core liberals... today s random quote... Hunter! And it s doubly apropos as we just watched the movie on Friday! | | | Been a crazy eventful week. Raquetball on Tuesday. Did some stuff Wednesday. Thursday there was an aborted attempt at a Nerd Night and the Wanderer came over and we made a monster sized batch of Thug Chili. Seven types of peppers... nearly all of them hot. Had to try to leash in the Wanderer who was intent on putting over a dozen habeneros in the pot to render the stuff nearly inedible. Instead, it just ended up blazing hot. But tasty. We also Watched Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom, which is indeed an exceedingly foul movie... not quite Batman and Robin foul... but pretty nasty none-the-less.
Friday I made another trip to downtown Philly to hang out with some clients and get another fine free meal. In the evening TGM, Mr Dover and token European, Paul, came over for an old Stoner style movie night (Stoner as in Stoner Associates, of course). The chili went over very well. Even Dover and his notoriously weak stomach enjoyed (or at least, suffered through) a bowl. Way to take one for the team.
Rest of movie night went very well (despite the Wanderer bringing the wrong movie) and we did a series of technical displays... including comparing standard DVD, up-converted DVD and HD-DVD in rapid succession. Hopefully there will be more movie nights in the future.
Saturday I had my first T-Day dinner with my family. Sweet. Turkey. And then hurried home just in time for Fight Night. An awesome set of fights minus the horrocious Tim Silvia fight. That guy may reign as champ for a while, but he ll always be a horrid horrid fighter. Vive le GSP!
Sunday Probie, my brother, and I made the trip to check out the new and improved Foxhole. We were kinda obligated since Sum has finally started showing up to his commitments.
Anyway. We had a good time. Nice assortment of fields. And it was nice to fire the SP-8 for the first time in a while. For several games they had the 3 of us going against 6 relative newbs... and we did quite well... made a clean sweep in one match. It was a lot of fun. Nice cool weather. Some neat new fields. I m sure we ll be heading back. Hopefully with a nice sized group next time.
And the final word on Sunday... Stillers finally managed to win a game despite their season long curse. Three INTs off of WRs hands? A KO return for TD? And we still pull it out. Now if only the stupid Ravens would stop pulling miracle wins out of their arses we could make a legitimate playoff run from the basement...
-b | | | So random thoughts and comments:
Election- Well, I did not vote once again. This time becase I re-upped my registration in my new county too late. But I did cajole Meghan into voting for Swann. Yay.
Anyway, to be honest a Dem House and Senate scares the hell out of me. I like my money and, even moreso, like my guns. Neither of them feel safe right now. I m hoping such slim margins of control mean sensible dems won t take all my guns or pass another utterly imbecilic peice of legislation like the Clinton Gun Ban (thank God he made our streets safe from drive-by bayonettings!!!). On the up side Santorum and Rumsfield are out. Those are two big bonuses. Nice to see Leiberman win as an Independent. We ll see what the future holds and I can go back to my usual mix of apathy and general disgust towards politics.
Stillers- My God, we re a good team. I d say our roster is decidedly better than the SuperBowl roster... we just keep finding new strange and inventive ways to dominate teams and lose! It s insane. I really think we could still win the North (we have 2 games against Baltimore mind you), but I m not exactly counting on that playoff appearance. We still have a strong nucleus for seasons to come and many young flourishing players even if turnovers and shitty special teams turn this one into a complete wash.
Books- Finished a couple in the last week or two. I keep reading more and more Howard and now Bastius has me thinking about another Conan campaign. Damn him. I also finally got around to reading Fight Club. Really amazing book. All those fantastic lines from the movie? Straight from the book. Exceptionally well done and a very quick read. The story is different enough from the movie to make it exciting in the latter chapters. Though you have to wander if the obvious clues to Tyler s identity would have been so obvious without the foreknowledge of the big twist gained from the movie. Anyway, read it if you get a chance.
Well enough for now.
-bampf | | | Hm. Back to back Conan quotes randomly selected as the Quote of the Day. My first thought was maybe I should thin down the number of Howard entries... my second thought was 'Why the hell would do that??'
Crazy talk. Like you could ever have too much Conan.
Well... except for that time when Marvel had three concurrent Conan titles and two of the three really began to suck (SSoC was always badass).
In other news Kent forced BF2142 on me. I was on the verge of writing off EA and their Battlefield line forever but so far it s pretty good. More updates later.
