| So at work we have a productivity consultant coming in... yeah... very Office Space... "I m a people person! I have people skills, Dammit!"... anyway, his name is Bent Jenson. Yeah, I said Bent Jenson. Is that, or is that not, a Space Mutiny name? Holy cow! I can only assume he weilds an Accelerated Synergy Pistol and a Lariat of Layoffs.
Note to self... I need an Accelerated Synergy Pistol.
So, what have I been up to? Still adjusting to our grown up schedule. Still trying to sooth my aching (and rotting) feet. I think we re adjusting fairly well. We ve actually done a few things outside of the coffee shop.
We made it to the Ren Faire (thanks in part to some much appreciated help from the Wanderer). Was a very good time. Took my sister and her new beau and even managed to see some fresh acts! That was nice. It was costume weekend so Meghan went all out and ended up winning the costume contest... so we have a free Dickens weekend at some point complete with free BnB stay, dinner and the show. Nice. A few pics here for those inclined to look.
We even went to see a show. We saw People Noise, a band that somehow became the Coffee Shop s temporary house band, as they spent the better part of three days hanging out, drinking coffee and leeching our bandwidth. Very nice guys. Surprisingly good music. And it was cool to go to see a band and have the band members usher you into the place, get you out of the cover charge and be enthusiastic about your presence. So that was very cool. Maybe they will return again someday...
Tonight we have a local musician playing guitar, so seems like the Hard Bean is becoming some kind of musical nexus... it s already a nexus of dread arcane power thanks to Meghan s Mug of Summoning. So it would seem fitting.
Last weekend, Jamie, jkarr and I made a trip to play in a tiny BloodBowl tourney, basically as an excuse to eat Brazilian meat-on-a-sword. The meat was glorious, though kinda lacking compared to past churrascaria experiences. Oh, well. Still an extremely fun trip. Sum, you missed it! Now you know better than to let your organs rebel against you going forward.
So things are good, but exceedingly busy. There are three or four projects going on simultaneously at the house. I m sure we ll finish some or all of them by year s end. Let s hope. Pretty ambitious.
I know there s more I wanted to talk about...
Jamie s theory of us wanting everyday to be dress-up day showed more signs of credence as we were pirates for both Trick-or-Treat and Halloween. Pictures to follow.
Big thanks go out to Mark T Sebastian, whose timely return to the east coast allowed him to fill in for me at the coffee shop. It s great having friends with a strange desire to volunteer themselves as freelance barristas.
Well, enough for now.
I ll try to continue with the frequent coffee shop updates.
