Sorry I never got a chance to make a Xmas eve post to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Hope the holidays were good to all.
Mine was pretty good. Got some stuff I needed. Got some stuff I wanted, and even got a couple of unexpected cool things... like my brother got me a Alien (that s the Ridley Scott/Geiger Alien, not to be confused with ET or Alf or Paco) about three feet tall and constructed out of motorcycle parts... it s very cool.
The big gift really was from Rich who acquired Steelers tickets for the Ravens game Sunday. It was friggin awesome! The stadium was amazing. The crowd was electric. The game was fantastic. And now we are the undisputed best team in football, champions of the world and harbingers of a new era of glory and enlightenment (not unlike Bill and Ted s first album).
Yup.

All right, this is retarded. It s over 50 degrees and raining! It should be bloody well snowing! I want some friggin snow. Three days a winter does not make, dammit.
In other news, finally saw Saun of the Dead last night. Very funny. I ll still rebutt Evan s claim that it was the best film of the year... that honor goes to Napolean Dynamite.
I ll have to do another best and worst of the year list shortly. Will be a short list... didn t see a whole lot of movies this past year. Definitely less than usual anyway.

Although I don t think she reads this I m compelled to send congratulations out to my sister for graduating this past weekend. Summa cum laude at that.
Ship s graduation was... interesting. It was strangely reminiscent of local high school graduations... and then I remembered why... everyone from local high schools goes there.
There was a disconcerting amount of flannel and jeans. There were even a couple of cardboard signs being toted around in full WWE fashion. How s that for decorum? At one point I witnessed a leather jacket clad sibling of a graduate pump his fist, point, and shoot "Bo-Yeah" upon hearing their relative s name called. Yeah! You fucked up that diploma, proper.
Wow.
So, all my academic snobbery aside, it was really great to see April graduate and do so well. I m no longer the only member of my family (either side) to receive a degree. Now she faces the daunting task of putting an art degree to use. She took a lot of design and graphics software courses her last couple of semesters so that will help immensely.
Anyway, congrats Apey!

Pats lose, Iggles now officially suck. That means the Steelers are the uncontested champions of the world. Winning that Super Bowl thing is now nothing more than a formality. Sweet!
Love it.
In other news, once again, I m refining the ancient art of procrastination as Sunday was my first time doing any real Xmas shopping. I can definitely see a zero hour Friday night frenzy in my future. I m not gonna bother resolving to do it different next year... this is how it has always been, this is how it will always be. I embrace my inner sloth.

I felt there was something really missing about this holiday season. Then I figured it out... no Lord of the Rings film to look forward to. No day to take off work and set up shop in a theatre for a full day. It s sad really. I feel empty. Need more LotR (or more glass to break)!
The best we get is the extended DVD... released today. 50 new minutes of LotR... I d rather have another 3 hr movie, but I ll take what I can get. Can t wait to see it.

Got to play two BloodBowl games over the weekend. Lost em both. Yeah, I go undefeated for ten weeks then loose the last two of the season. Damnation. Oh well, it happens. I m still in good shape for the playoffs... where I may get a chance to avenge one or two of those losses.
The sting of defeat was muted by the Steelers win. It s nice being on top looking down. I like our chances despite Big Ben s recent struggles. The two other 12-1 teams looked eminently beatable this weekend.
Went to the Gun show on Saturday. Managed to exercise some restraint and not buy any more guns (I was officially tempted by both a Mini-14 and a Cobray Mac-10 knockoff). Mmmm... guns. To sate my gunlust I just picked up some ammo instead.
Angies Friday. Always a good thing. Sweet sweet Cringo.
Got to hang out with Kristyn Sunday in our weekly Moose ritual. Don t ask. So that was cool. But alas the Moose nears death so we may need a new ritual for the future.
A word of warning to all: Do not see Blade Trinity. Don t even think about it. Stoner, Evan and I went to the theatre undecided of what film we wanted to see. So we let the Rock Paper Scissor gods decide as we stood in front of the ticket dispencing machine. Apparently said gods are cruel and vindictive gods for that peice of poop movie won out.

Oh yeah, yesterday was Pearl Harbor day... a day in which we all should watch Team America: World Police (or at least listen to the soundtrack) and reflect intently on how much Pearl Harbor sucked.
"Why does Micheal Bay get to keep on making movies?"

Perhaps the blog will live on afterall. I dunno.
Well, I ll start off with the dark secret and the main reason why the blog died. Kristyn and I are seperated and divorcing. So there it is. Not something I m keen to talk about. Not gonna go into details for personal and potentially legal reasons. Suffice to say the divorce itself was at Kristyn s behest. Alas.
That s the big news. Most know. It s been public knowledge for a couple months but not something I ve openly advertised. We re still close... there is still the possibility of reconciliation but not in the immediate future. I m optimistic that all will be righted in time. As I said, we shall see.
So in the intirim I m a homeless bum wondering aimlessly about the barren landscape. A grim picture indeed. And yet, I persevere.
I still got the Stillers. They re the beacon of light. A shining example of goodness in a dark and cruel world. Big Ben is likened to a god. And Eli Manning is the suckiest suck that ever did suck. Sweet justice.
My take on all the events I ve missed in the past couple of months... the short version:
Red Sox win. That s cool. They ve always been my favorite AL team (aka, the gay league, where pitchers can t bat and coaches can t coach). But I am glad to see the death blow dealt to baseball as every acheivement of the last 10 years has been invalidated with the sudden swarm of overwelming evidence that every baseball player of the modern era is a doper and a God-damned cheater. Good riddance. Baseball is dead. Long live the Hud!
A mournful dirge plays for hockey, too. Good. It has been markedly established that every hockey player of the modern era is a money grubbing scum and deserve the gas pump attendant jobs they ll be left with having killed their own meal ticket. Hockey is dead. Long live the Hud!
Four more years for Dubya. I tried to vote but was robbed of my Constitutional right... I m waiting for Puffy P Fuck Daddy Whatever to come and kill me (I m armed). I would have cast my vote for W... or more accurately against Kerry if I wasn t turned away. Worst... Candidate... Ever. Glad to see that the electorate preferred an idiot with convictions over a smart rotten sleezeball. Also nice to see the big 'Fuck You' to all the vociferous actors, musicians and other assorted deluded left wing hacks who are maybe starting to realize they have no place in politics.
I reign supreme in BloodBowl, with the best record in the AGBBL. Skink-o-rama is glory bound.
I have new guns... and people to shoot em with. Bliss.
Really, that s about it. We ll see if I keep up with the posting.

PS Oh yeah. The coffee machine at work now makes cappucinos. With steamed milk and everything. Nice. Makes me almost wanna drive to Philly more than once a week. Almost. |
