| So, what have I noticed of late? The internet has really gotten to a point of supreme suckitude. Spyware, malware, spam... and now all the webcrawling spiders and bots.
Kent spends (ostensibly) the vast majority of his work day combatting Spammers and bots on the zinak forums. And I checked ye olde BampfBlog database today... it had exploded to over 34 MB from around 3MB where it normaly lies... a 1000% increase! All comments left by bots. It s absurd. I had to delete tens of thousands of comments. Ridiculous. The people responsible for this shit deserve nothing less than death. Same to email spammers. Straight to the gallows with this pricks. I ll pull the lever myself and never bat an eye.
So, anyway. No more links in BampfBlog comments as this is the common denominator of all spamming posts. The software now checks for any html links and disallows the comment so don t even try.
It s a sad state of affairs. Can we nuke the internet? I d vote for that in referendum.
-bampf | | | For a moment I was really excited. MSNBC.com s headline had a picture of smoking debris with a giant caption "Dozens Killed" right beside a headline link reading "Wild Finish at Daytona." For a fleeting, yet glorious, moment I thought that perhaps dozens of NASCAR fans and drivers had been killed in some huge collision-pile-up-with-flaming-detritus-flung-into-the-stands crash. But alas... two articles. One on Iraq, one on Daytona. I dare to dream.
So I ve been gone for a while. It s been a lazy couple of weeks so I didn t want to break up all that sloth with a dutiful blog post. So what have I missed...
Superbowl. Meh. I tried routing for the Bears. It just didn t work. The NFC just can t field a team that could stand up against the most average of AFC teams. I still think Peyton is a Chokasaurus looking at his playoff numbers. But we ll see if that changes now that he has exorcised that huge monkey on his back. In any case it was a sad and unspectacular way to end the glorious season of the NFL.
Wicked Winter Faire. We drug Probie to this BDSM meets Ren Faire event. Poor sod is probably still recovering. Luckily it was much more the latter than the former. Though we did see some gimp suits and a chick with an assless dress (no kidding). There was also a huge 300+ lb old guy riding around on a pink tricycle wearing a pink Hello Kitty dress and Hello Kitty backpack (again, no kidding). It was still fun albeit a bit long. There were some decent acts/performances and the faire theme of ninja vs pirate led to some funny moments. On the way home I got pulled over by New Jersey s finest for NOT speeding... probably the only time the whole trip I wasn t speeding and I get pulled over. The guy claimed he thought I was a drunk driver... I guess cause I was NOT speeding he figured something was amiss. Bizarre. All I can say is North Jersey is the absolute worse place in America to drive. Hands down.
Snow and ice. Yeah, take it Al Gore. Eat shit, you loser. In our attempts to free vehicles we found early on that my medeival military pick was very handy for cracking through the ice. This worked to free three cars over the last week. So I felt comfident when I took the same outside to whack my car from its frozen prison. Well, I found out that the pick is equally adept at peircing tires as it is peircing ice. Yeah. So... my car s at the shop now awaiting some tire service. Sigh. Ah well. Whatever it costs to fix, it ll be worth it for the future story telling potential.
Well, enough for now. I m pretty sure I had other stuff to comment on, but I drawing a blank.
