| | Just a couple of items of note from my limited experience with the new HD channels...
Kari Byron in HD may now be my favorite thing in the world. I know... it weird for me to have a huge crush on a non-male celebrity. Hopefully together, we can adjust to this new state of being.
Second. HD has revealed a suspicion I ve long harbored. Giada DeLaurentis s head is, in fact, broader than her shoulders. It s amazing, but true. Thank you HD, for settling that one once and for all.
-b | | | So you guys want to see a picture of true brotherly love? Feeding ammo to your brother while he machine guns down godless commie bastards (or very unhappy piles of dirt). That s what it s all about:

Touching, no? That is all.

| A red letter day! Don t know when it happened, but scanning the channels today I found two new glorious channels on Comcast lineup-- FoodTVHD and DiscoveryHD... friggin awesome!!
And the first thing I saw? An episode of Good Eats! Alton is even sexier in high def! Glad Probie didn t wander in while I was watching... coulda been real awkward for us both, if you know what I mean.
Actually I didn t see Good Eats first, I caught the last couple minutes of Simply Delicioso first. Seems they found someone even more stupid and irritating than Rachel Ray in that latina chick... I wouldn t think that possible. Baffling. FoodTV could be so much better... if only it was all Alton, all the time.
That is all for now.
-bampf | | | Man, finally, a post. Been meaning to make one for a week solid. I ll start off with the post title... SPAMALOT! Saw it at the Hershey Theatre with my brother, sister and Shane (April s beau). It was friggin awesome! Hysterical. And a special joy for a Python head like myself. Dialog directly from the movie, songs and lines from other Python works (some obvious, some subtle) amid all new songs and lines... fantastic!
I really don t think I even missed much not seeing it on Broadway (as I originally intended). Don t know how much Hank Azaria and David Hyde Peirce (awesome though they may be) would have added. The music and writing was the focus. Bless you Eric Idle... please continue to milk your Python heritage for every penny you can til the day you die! I can t get enough.
Anyway, the evening was well worth the three days of debilitating back pain the Hershey Theatre seats always guarantee. Small price to pay for the smiting.
Other news. Been in Philly all week. All five days. Most of that spent in training and a nearby hotel room. A nice change of scenary, I guess. But it gets old kinda quick. And it just doesn t seem right to eat dinner without having to fight off multiple cats just to get it into my mouth.
Otherwise, been very busy. Very busy. Social calendar is startlingly full. It s nice to be wanted. Good for the old nerd ego. There seems to be an ongoing quest for ethnic food that has been launched recently. So I m pretty excited about that.
Today is of course Valentine s Day (aka Saint Hallmark s Day). It s a craptacular day to be single... but I ve had some craptacular ones while taken as well, so perhaps I shouldn t complain. At least I can be miserable without spending $75 for the privilege. Huzzah. Overall my mood has been very good, though. Don t feel like I m missing much and it will be quite some time before desperation starts to sink in. Anyway, everyone knows I m way too sexy to be single for long. Oh yeah...
A note I meant to make several posts ago: Thank you, Comedy Central for buying the exclusive rights to syndicate Futurama! No more will I have to watch that awful fucking drivel while trying to take in a lovely sitting of Adult Swim cartoons. And it seems AS has really hit their stride again (Tom Goes to the Mayor and 12 Oz Mouse has given way to Frisky Dingo and Metalocalypse). All things are cyclic. And Lucy Daughter of the Devil may be their greatest cartoon yet. Why is McGuirk so awesome?
I did watch the Pro Bowl last week. Or at least most of it. So sad. A game so apathetic the players don t even care that a game is going on. It s a sad end to the glorious season. I spent most of the time watching the Steelers players. I was angry that James Harrison and Casey Hampton played most of the game... get them outta there! Don t risk an injury, for God s sake. Yeah... that what I watched while the game was going on. It s a sad excuse for a football game. Every year at this time I think of the Good Doctor and think maybe he had it right... is life without football really worth bearing for another 6 months?
Ah well. Time for sleep. Later all.

| | | Had a glorious weekend. Especially in the sports world. First off, I missed posting on my favorite fake holiday... the Day of the Hog! The only holiday we have that allows you to relive the same day over and over again until you experience the perfect day. Only in America. This is indeed the land of milk and honey.
Saturday was a UFC night. Lotta good fights. Which was unusual in itself. Last couple UFCs and TV events have been craptacular. In any case, the much hated Tim Sylvia was defeated once and for all. Hopefully we ll never see him again, and he can go back to Maine with all the rest of the Mainiards and suck it.
Sunday was of course the Big Game. My open invitation for a SuperBowl gathering quickly spiraled out of control. That s OK though. Josh and I did a mental headcount and figured we d have 10 at most. I think we hit 14 and that was with Stoner bailing after he committed to stop by. Every sitting surface that could be jammed into the TV room was occupied and there were people standing as well.
I had pulled out a bunch of meat to cook with Saturday and then ended up pulling out a bunch more as phone calls came in Sunday hinting at the coming influx. Food prep lasted nearly four hours. Mind you, I m not complaining. It is well known that I like entertaining. Cooked up six dishes. All were well received (the last handful to arrive never got a chance to even see the glazed bacon wrapped water chestnuts). So that was cool.
The game was amazing. I was startled at how vehemently I found myself rooting for the Not-Pats. I mean I don t even like the Not-Pats, they re one of my most hated teams, but nothing could compare to the level of Patriot hating that has been fomenting for years. All in attendance save Colin was rooting for the Not-Pats so it made for a nice atmosphere of unity. It s been brought up several time that rooting for the Pats is like rooting for the Empire. It s a very good analogy.
So, anyway. That was an amazing SuperBowl. Maybe the best I ve ever seen. Granted, I enjoyed XL much more (obviously)... but as far as a nailbiter of a game... how do you beat that?
It has also been determined that Eli Manning is in fact the inverse of his brother. Peyton puts up phenomenal numbers all regular season and then transmogrifies into Chokasaurus Rex come playoff time. Eli sucks horribly all regular season (he led the NFL in turnovers!) and then somehow turns into a god come playoff time. Weird. Really weird. Must have something to do with Archie never having made the playoffs in his entire career... his DNA does not know how to react.
There was some other stuff I wanted to talk about but I m drawing a complete blank. Huh. Well, I ll post again soon. I still have my movie ratings of 07 to post. That should be forthcoming.
Anyway, all hail the Not-Pats, Champions of the World.
Later all, bampf
