Quote of the Day:
Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when blue blade flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and I am content. -Conan of Cimmeria

Got a few random and quick items I ve been meaning to express electronically for a while. Damn my schedule, all gorged with things... and... stuff.

1. I saw Elvis. No not the real one. A fake one. But I saw him. Saw him perform. And gyrate. Much to the glee of a surprisingly large and surprisingly fervent pack of old women.

2. The Import Channel store in the East Mall is having a huge sale. If you like Asian themed decorating, check it out. Evan and I dropped a nice chunk of change there this week.

3. Speaking of asians, the Vietnamese market beside the Jumbo Buffet is pretty friggin awesome. They have crazy food crap both cheap and exotic. This excites me.

4. I think I have a new 2nd favorite web personality. Ze Frank. Of course I discovered him via a link from my favorite web personality, Lore. Anyway, apparently this Ze Frank guy has been around forever. Don t know how I missed him for so long. Anyway, you must (and I can t stress that must enough) watch this:

Ze Frank s take on the SuperBowl. Funniest thing I ve seen in a heap long time. Also, his attempt to make an Earth sandwich is pretty hysterical too.

I guess that is all for now. I promised to make this quick. Have a good weekend and holiday, all.

And a happy Pi Day to one and all. It s not a fake holiday on the order of the Day of the Hog (my favorite fake holiday) but for us nerds it s at least worth mentioning. I d watch the movie, but my schedule is pretty full and I have a handful of movies waiting in a long queue thanks to Josh s movie club membership.

Things are still good in Bampf-land. Been doing the whole dating thing. I forgot how exhausting the whole process is. Just draining. But a necessary evil I guess.

In other news, there is much nerd stuff afoot. The 2007 Fall BloodBowl league has morphed into the 2008 Spring league, largely due to my powers of procrastination. But it s all good. This is probably better as the various nerds can use the practice leading up to our big trip to Indianapolis for ZlurpeeBowl in June. I m working on a couple of new teams and have a couple more waiting in the queue. A nerd s work is never done.

With the weather breaking, that also means paintball! People are chomping at the bit to break out their gear. And a couple of nerds are eager to use their expensive guns before their respective significant others beat them for buying them and not using them enough.

I also need to find some tennis opponents. Anyone play or know anyone who plays? Another potential facet of my big fitness push. I m staying serious about that. My weight loss has completely plateaued, but that s kind of to be expected as I put back on some lost muscle mass. No worries. The bampf-sexiness shall not be denied.

Well that s it for now. Later all.

So I have FoodTV HD on in the background as I work. I occasionally pick up tricks and ideas by osmosis... I can pick up a grilling tip from say Bobby Flay without paying full attention and getting annoyed at how much of an ass he is.

Anyway, Sandra Lee (the woman Anthony Bourdain has suggested criminal charges be brought against her for her awful and potentially deadly cooking) just made a cocktail. It consisted of three ingredients. She concocted it by adding a half part of each ingredient. A half part of each. Think about that. I m not kidding.

How can someone so stupid be doing this for a living? It boggles the mind.

Seriously, FoodTV execs... what the fuck is wrong with you?

Today is of course, the 10th anniversary of the Dude! That s right. The Big Lebowski was released on this date in 1998. I was there. I saw it in the theatre. Where were you cretins?

Anyway, to commemorate there may be some bowling and White Russians this weekend. Hopefully. We ll see how things shake down. At the very least the movie will be played... a lot.

That s about all I got. Oh, I did make a declaration the other night at the gym (with Wanderer as my witness) that I want a six pack by bikini season. A lofty goal, but the bampf sexiness is on a roll and momentum is a powerful force indeed (actually momentum is m*v and force is m*a but only some dickwad physics nerd would point out the incongruity... oh wait... crap).

It is a doubly sad day. Sad day for the NFL as Favre the machine retires. Never been a player like him before, never will be another to come. And despite being a drunken lout, wow was he an exciting player.

Second, Gary Gygax died. So it is a dark dark day for geeks everywhere. Sure Tolkein started it all, but it was Gygax that really got the ball rolling. He pioneered an entire industry. The ubiquitousness of WoW and EQ are testements to his lasting legacy. Of course, if Jack Chick is right he s being flayed by demons as we speak.

I prefer to thing he s rolling 20s with uncanny frequency somewhere in the clouds. A much more comforting thought.

In bampf life news, things are good. Very good in fact. Social calendar continues to brim. Workout routine has been amped up. The world is my oyster and presently I am shucking it to reveal it s soft and vulnerable innards.

Mmm... World Oyster.

Actually I think oysters are pretty disgusting (Why would you stick anything with the consistency of mucus into your mouth?), but I was enjoying the metaphor way too much to let it slide.

Later all,
