Quote of the Day:
Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when blue blade flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and I am content. -Conan of Cimmeria

Myron Cope retired yesterday. That sucks. The man is a god in Pittsburgh. I ll be wearing my Terrible Towel today in mourning.

Sad sad day.

Evan brought up the need to see a Giants show last night. And voilą...

Nice.

Also. Batman Begins is far superior to Batman and Robin. Imagine that. Go see it. Comic geeks unite!

There s a guy walking around the airport with a sign that reads "Queensland Gov't". Apparently some one has lost a foreign dignitary or two. Friggin Weird.

Another airport post. I m sitting outside SeaTac trying to avoid the fucking smokers (I hate them all) killing time til my flight home boards (the first of two). From a local time perpective I ll be boarding around 10 PM and arriving in my bed around noon tomorrow. That sucks. If they think I m gonna do any work tomorrow some one is sorely mistaken.

Anyway, Seattle has been good. Got to meet a meet a bunch of clients I ve worked with constantly over the phone for the last couple of years. Training went pretty well... I was expecting to get grilled, but seemingly I did OK. Had most of the answers they were looking for.

I will point out that Seattle has a bit more to do and see than Midland Friggin Barren Wasteland, MI. Got a driving tour of the city yesterday and even caught the latter half of a Mariners-Phils game... how s that for irony. First Phils game I see of the season is in Seattle.

Things wrapped up early today so I had pretty much the whole day to explore. I tried to make the best of it. Spent a lot of time at Pike s Market... sort of an Italian Market-South Street combo to put it in Philly terms. It was pretty cool. Visited the Seattle Art Museum and the had an awesome Brazilian dinner. Now I gotta sneak the $60 dinner tab into my expense report. Shouldn t be a problem as I was pretty reserved with my spending the rest of the week.

That was about it for me. Drove around a bit in an attempt to get lost and ended up just finding a back way into the airport. The best laid plans of mice and men... So that means I have a solid hour to kill here. No biggie. The weather here is awesome and I m able to leech sweet sweet wireless bandwidth (unlike Philly where they try to charge you).

At this point though I m just anxious to get home. I miss my bed. Can t beleive I ll be travelin again next week... to Boston for Bloodbowl. Should be an awesome time.

Well, enough for now. Gonna go surf a bit catch up on all the stuff I missed this week.

Hey, look at me, I m blogging on Pacific time. No time to really post right now, but I did want to mention that mere minutes after taking off from Seattle Inl Airport in the rental car Pearl Jam s daughter came on the radio... one of the most sublime moments of my life.

Beautiful.

And, Chad, if you re out there I don t wanna hear anything out of you.

So I ve been in the barren wasteland that is central Michigan all week. You guys miss me? Yeah, I thought so. So it s been a decent trip. There s not much out here but it was a nice change of scenary for a week.

Working at a Dow facility is kinda freaky. There were at least three warnings that came over the loudspeaker cautioning employees to avoid different areas of the plant due to accidental leaking of toxic and/or corosive gasses. Nice, eh? Everyone there just ignored it like this was totally normal.

I did have some good food. With an asian emphasis. Had Chinese, Mongolian BBQ (I know it s not really Mongolian food) and Indian. They were the only interesting places I could find. All they have otherwise is chains. Boring food for boring midwestern lives? I guess.

Been playing with my new laptop all week though. It is friggin sweet. So sweet. I can foresee it becoming my constant companion. Who needs human contact when you have the warm reassurances of silicon based friends?

Oh, I think I did pretty good at the job site. Clients seemed happy. I wrote em some code, fixed some problems, and learned em all the dirty little secrets of how to use our software.

Next week I m off to Seattle first thing Monday. Fun fun. That will be more of a classroom-like atmosphere so we ll see how that goes.

If nothing else I ve been very distracted during what is normaly a very shitty time of the year.

Well, I guess I should wrap things up. My flight boards in 10. Maybe I ll add some more if I can steal some more delicious wireless bandwidth during my layover in O Hare (yes I m heading in the wrong direction, but it s better than Charlotte... the only other reasonably priced option).

PS Oh, one other thing. I hate United. Hate em hate em. Somehow during a 3.5 hour layover in O Hare they were unable to get my luggage to my friggin connecting flight and I ended up having to run out and buy clothes to wear to work Monday. Luckily my wayward bag eventually arrived... still hate em.

Wednesday after work I swung by Media Play to pick up a Sandman graphic novel that Evan had procured for me (now that he s working there). Kent happened to be picking up ammo next door at Gander Mtn and joined me there. The store was just about empty and as we approached the checkout there was an older white haired business suit wearing gentleman completing his purchase. So we stepped up to the counter just as the older guy triggered the alarm as he was leaving. He hands his bag back to the checkout lady and she pulls out two DVDs and starts waving them back and forth in front of us over the de-magnetizing strip thingee... now here s the good part. The DVDs? Two Girls Gone Wild videos! So the guy is standing in the exit doorway in dismay as we watch all this. It was awesome. The second the guy walked out Kent, the checkout lady and I all burst into prolonged uncontrollable laughter... So friggin funny.

That really made my day. Simple pleasures, y know?

One minor downer... I had to drive to Philly today... but that s fine cause I m only here to pick up my new laptop. Score!! Also, shortly after I arrive my boss comes up and explains that we are switching to 'Summer Business Hours'... I m perplexed. He explains that that means we go home two hours early every Friday. And the hits just keep on coming! I love my job.

So it s been an excellent week. I m only scratching the surface and things are only getting warmed up. This weekend looks to be another action packed, sleep deprived event. Nice.

Next week is Michigan. Hopefully that will be cool.

Happy happy. Joy joy.

...than central air.

It s so true. Finally fired up the central air last night and it was glorious. Glorious I say.

Anyway, had an excellent long weekend. Traveled to Virginia for some the Death Cup BloodBowl Tourney. I did OK. I played fairly well but had some rolls cripple me here and there. Overall a very good time and I won the Best Painted Award... my third. Nice.

Got to do some shooting on back to back days with both The Defiler and the guys as well as with Kent yesterday. Awesome. I foresee many more trips to the range this summer.

I think I had some other stuff I wanted to report but I m drawing a blank right now. Ah. Maybe it ll come to me later.
