Quote of the Day:
Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when blue blade flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and I am content. -Conan of Cimmeria

Listen up... this is an announcement of the highest import.

All you must go to Reiley s, the irish pub in the Sheraton by the Union Deposit Giant, and order the Bookmaker s Sandwhich. This is imperative. You will enjoy a sandwhich unlike any other.

Do it. Do it right now.

Seriously.

PS Paintball a week from Sunday... be there!

Readers have demanded updates. I must abide.

First update is Pain. And me being in a lot of it. Somehow wrenched my back on Thursday getting out of the car. Grew steadily worse for 2 days. Peaked Friday night as Probie watched me take 4 minutes to walk from the living room to the bedroom, stopping to cry out in agony about 6 times. It was sad. Then I had to drive to downtown Philly Monday for an all day meeting at a clients... Luckily it s subsiding and hopefully all well be well again soon.

New BloodBowl season is upon us. So far the BloodBowl Gods have been very vindictive... they decided to punish me for my hubris of thinking I may actually win with halflings. Team is cursed. Failed actions everywhere, and my opponents dice are all blessed. A assume at some point my pennance will be served and I can start winning... much to the humiliation of my unsuspecting foes.

Tippmann E-Trigger for the A-5 is hot hot hot. Kent got his Thursday along with Flatline barrel and collapsable CAR stock. His gun is now the official second in command of coolness after mine. Terrance and then Bastius/Colin fall in lockstep behind them.

UFC 62 was Saturday. Was the best night of fighting we ve seen in a while. All good matches... no complete snoozers or baffling decisions/stoppages (which the last two or three Pay Per Views were nothing but). Too bad Summy missed it...

Next paintball outting is slated for two weekends from now. Saturday or Sunday... not sure yet. Either Wanna Play or a private field in Plainfield. Again, not sure yet. Let me know if interested.

Football is so close. NFL Network is broadcasting in High Def. Life is glorious.

So, it was a crazy packed weekend. Tons of fun despite a long series of snafus, missteps and outright idiocy.

Friday night I had trouble getting to sleep and ended up playing fummbl in bed til after 3 am (though I did reduce a halfling team to 2 players with my elves). Had to then rise ridiculously early to attend a Free Masons breakfast with Sum and Rich. It was informative... I ve read a ton of revisionist and conspiracy laden stuff concerning freemasonry so it was cool to steal a peak at an actual source of their nefarious operations... sadly the Holy Grail was not on display and the group was revealed to be just a bunch of old guys hanging out.

Anyway, meeting was cool... but a bit overly long and drawn out. Cutting into valuable nap time to prepare for the drive to Pittsburgh. And then my mom called at the midpoint of said nap... ensuring I never had a chance to grab any meaningly rest.

So, Rich, Christine, Sum and myself made the trip to Pittsburgh. Time flew by as we chatted about Masons, Paintball, BloodBowl and the Guild (and a bunch of military stuff which I just toned out being the only life-long civilian in the car). So we arrived in the Steel City without much incident and drive around for a while looking for a parking spot, eventually settling on an abandoned bread wholesaler warehouse... seriously. We were parked inside an old warehouse.

Our plan was to walk to Peppi s, home of the fabled Roethlisburger sandwich. A colossal monstrosity stacked with meats, cheeses, scrambled egg, and Heinz ketchup. The media had picked up on the sandwich a while back and made a big deal about it during Ben s rookie phenom times. Chris Berman even shared one with Ben during an interview once.

Anyway. Due to some poor map reading we parked on the wrong side of the stadium and ended up having to walk for a mile or two to get to the place. And after much trudging through oppressive heat and humidity we found the place closed... Closed! In downtown Pittsburgh, on a Saturday evening, on a game day!!! What the hell?

Disappointed, we started heading back to the stadium, finding a substitute Italian restaurant/bar along the way. The place was actually pretty good, and we took the opportunity to annoint Summy (a Browns fan) in Iron City beer such that he could be a true Steelers fan, even if it was only for the day.

Then as we prepared to leave and head back to the stadium the heavens opened and a torrential downpour began. We just couldn t win.

We nabbed a few small plastic bags from the restaurant, and wearing one as a hat, we walked back to Heinz field. Luckily the downpour gave way to a light drizzle.

Inside the stadium we made several futal attempts to get near the sideline so Sum could snap a few pics of Big Ben, but whenever we would move into the concourse to relocate near him we would emerge to find him at the spot we just vacated... ah well.

We ascended to our nosebleed seats just in time for more rain and a PA announcement trying to herd everyone inside to seek shelter.

After a 15 minute rain delay, the game finally began.

The game was cool to watch, but the starters quickly gave way to replacements and much of the second half was spent watching players who most likely won t make the roster. Ben played for one drive... mind you, it was an impressive drive... but then quickly exited. Steeles ended up losing, but who cares? It s preseason.

The drive back was pretty quick as well. With more stories and comraderie.

Meanwhile, Meghan had her car towed while parked downtown. Apparently a parking meter with a brown paper bag on it now constitutes a tow away zone in Harrisburg. Fuckers.

So that meant I had to get up even earlier Sunday morning so we could retreive her car from impounding. This meant even less sleep before playing paintball Sunday. In addition we had to stop by the police station where Meghan was stuck waiting in line behind a bi-polar crack head recalling to the cops all the events of some event concerning a crack dealer named BeeBop from the previous night. He did this with exquisite detail and enthusiasm.

This further delayed me and set our schedule back over half an hour. Forcing me to rush around and throw all my gear in my bag.

Upon finally getting to the field, the comedy of errors continued. First my very expensive new gun was not working at all. After much fiddling we assumed the battery was dead. Meghan had pledged to pick batteries up for me the day before... that was assuming she had her car. So I had no battery. Luckily my brother had a spare and I was up and running in short order.

I started gearing up to play only to discover that in my rush I had grabbed two different sneakers... both for the right foot. Returning home would set us back another hour, so it was either wear two right footed shoes or wear flip flops... so I jammed my left foot into the shoe and pressed on (much to the amusement of the group... so glad my suffering provides such levity for my friends).

The paintball itself was a lot of fun. I scored many kills, and once again found myself at the point of attack for most every match. Good stuff. Only snafu (besides the aching left foot) was a broken ball that temporarily threw off the workings of my gun.

Highlight of my day was stealthily circling a group of enemies and coming up behind five of them. I killed three, drove another into the waiting fire of allies and surrendered a helpless sniper who I was practically standing over. Sweet.

Rory, aka Mr Breaker, aka Jesus, continues to be a excellent wingman for me, and I ve since recruited Kent as a second squad member as he diligently laid down covering fire and spotted for me.

Unfortunately, I had to skip out of paintball early for Meghan s graduation party in Carlisle. It was fun, with tons of good food, and as an added bonus I had time to shower and dress... this time with matching sneakers! Huzzah.

So, it was an amazingly fun and packed weekend... further highlighted by comical mishaps aplenty. Gotta love it.

Wow, this is a long-ass post. Better stop now before I start exceeding the attention span of my readers.

No, not like erion s new addition (though that would make my mom ecstatic)... new Blog Friend in the form of everyone s favorite government salaried slacker and BloodBowl fanatic, Summy! Welcome to the world of unbridled egos! Where we pretend the rest of the world cares to hear our inane rantings! Huzzah!

Now, just need Chad to chime in with the blog he talked about starting months ago and the Blog Friends will be nigh overflowing the page.

In other news, Paintball this Sunday. Dillsburg. Join us! Join us!

Saturday is a trip to Pittsburg to see the Stillers... SWEET! But first I m gonna do my best to steal a peak at the Holy Grail with Sum s help on Saturday morning.

Then Meghan s belated graduation party is Sunday evening. Though I loath social events, my happiness can be won over with lots of tasty comestibles. And I m sure they will be present in abundance.

Should be a good weekend!

Poor neglected Blog.

Well, we have officially caught the Paintball bug. Our group of 8 players somehow multiplied into 22 in just 2 weeks time. Four or five have bought guns and after just one or two outtings several more have intentions of doing the same. It s a virulent, contagious, disease. And we re just getting started.

For those interested, looks like we re gonna go back in two weeks. Another Sunday bloodbath.

In BloodBowl news, I am champion of the world and likened onto a BloodBowl God. I won the Spring AGBBL with my fearsome orcs (first ever back to back winner) and have won two fumbbl tournies in the last couple days. Rocketing my personal standing into the top 100 in the world (prob top 10 in US). I am a Vengeful BloodBowl God. And just in time for our Fall AGBBL Season.

And most importantly of all... football is back!! Oh glorious day. Joy has returned to a dour and glum world. Blessed Be.
