Quote of the Day:
Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when blue blade flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and I am content. -Conan of Cimmeria

Yeah, ye olde bampfblog is still gasping for dying breaths of air. Poor thing.

Life is still tumultuous. Still crazed. All that good stuff.

I can thank the hurricane for one less trip to Philly this week. Tuesday I made it as far as Carlisle in the torrential downpour before turning tail and returning to Ship. Two hours of travel through driving rains and standing water just wasn t gonna happen.

Of course that self same hurricane also postponed the Steelers game, ruining any chance of seeing it televised... so maybe we can call it even.

Pig killin starts this weekend. So I get to haul about animal carcasses and Kristyn gets to stuff sausage (one of her truer and simpler joys in life). Mmmm... pig. "Pork chops taste good. Bacon tastes good."

Even more pigs get it the following week and then we move on to cows. Life in redneck land is grand, for it is full of meat.

Mmm... meat.

The natives are getting restless. Or more specifically, Av.

So yeah, I ve been quiet. Got a good bit to say but just haven t had the time or motivation to post. Sigh.

Things are... turbulent right now. We ll see what happens next. I ll give more details then.

Anyway, a few quick notes:

Bloodbowl is upon us... this is a good thing.

Steelers look not so good, but Maddox is dead. Long live Big Ben! A new era will be ushered in and we can shake off the horrid Maddox memories (for the record he was worse than Kordell Stewart).

Shane gets married this weekend. So I get to don ye olde monkey suit once again. I m looking forward to it.

Oh yeah, and guns. Soon there will be guns for all. Assault weapons of all colors and varieties. Glorious.

Ding dong the witch is dead! The assault weapon bad dies today. Good riddance to awful rubbish. This also means my gun collection will depreciate in value quite a bit, but that s a hit I m more than willing to make.

Mmmm... guns.

At the behest of the Wanderer I ll make some posts to get my scary shaved cranium off the main page. I feel obligated as I had to stand him up tonight as my crazed life swirls tumultuously around me...

TMBG at the TLA Sept 30. If only we lived in Philly we could go see that show no problem...

sigh.

Another important announcement. Lewis Black is coming to Hbg! Oct 14 at the Forum. Kristyn and I have our tickets. Go get yours. Come on, it s Lewis Black... how could you dare miss him?

I m still a busy boy. I need to do a lot of work yet for the upcoming BloodBowl league. I m making some major upgrades to an already feature loaded site. But I m trying to make it as idiot proof as possible... this is the Guild we re talking about y know.

I m also assembling and playing with a new Mordheim warband (and preparing for a second Mordheim league), trying to get my Tomb Kings army into playable shape, and need to paint a new BloodBowl team for the Fall League. Woe is me. These hobbies are starting to look like work.

This weekend, is two SCA events, some gaming and a fantasy football draft all sandwiched in amongst trying to duck and avoid family functions. Quite a balancing act. We ll see how it goes.

I had typed up a nice fat entry on Monday and then lost it as my browser crashed. Took me a long time to work my motivation up to re-type it and now I forget what I wrote anyway. Ah, woe is me.

Anyway, I m still typing up a Pennsic recap as I have in wars past. It s coming slowly but I ll get there. I ve been in the midst of extremely busy. I find myself double and triple booked pretty much every day. Plus I m setting up multiple leagues, planning two major tournaments and trying to get work done on my Conan campaign. Arg. Need more hours. Less distractions (like work).

Quick movie update: Go see Hero. Maybe more importantly go see Napolean Dynamite. I m sure it s out of theatres save a few arthouses, but rent or buy the DVD at your earliest convenience. It s a wondrous peice of film-making. Pretty much every frame is funny. It s a strange phenomenon, but true nonetheless.

I also wanted to mention a monumental moment in the world of sports: the start of the National Football League 2004 season is nigh. Only two weeks til football once again gloriously returns to us.

Plus the BloodBowl league will start in two weeks. It s conceivable that on September 12 I ll be playing a league BloodBowl match in the Guild as we watch opening weekend football... that s about as close to nirvana as I can picture. Mmmm.

In other sporting news I heard a bunch of whiny, overpaid, arrogant American basketball players were beat like little girls in some kind of international meet. Sweet.

Enough update for now. I ll try to be a better blogger, I really will.
